First, let me introduce myself a bit. Im Cal from the Netherlands, I live 5minutes from the German border next Emmerich am Rhein. I will typ this in english because I think I can do that better then in German, nobody likes a google translate story. But my english will not be perfect but I hope you guys will understand.
Now to the point, why this topic? Well I thought it would be nice if i kept a digital report of my works I'm about to do to my Peg. I see lot's of different mods coming by on this and other forums but I would like to keep it all in one place. This topic will consist off a list in this FP that I will update from time to time. Several mods that are done will be on other pages but I will try to link them in this FP.
So why would anybody wants to modify their Peg, very good question. My Peg is a 1998 model with 20K km on the counter. I could get this one for very cheap, 1200 euros. It is in mint condition, it has all the history of maintenance and even the original buyers receipt. Besides that I wanted a bike that could fulfill three purposes, off-road, touring and supermoto. Of course I was better off with buying a XT660X but that one is 3 times as expensive. In my search of a bike I came across a guy you guys already know better me, Rotax. This guy inspired me that anything can be done.. at a certain price of course. Next to that my wife would like to join me on some of the trips so the bike needs to be convertible.
So the bottom line is I want a bike tht can do all, I need to convert the bike when we go on holiday but that wont be a problem. In the summerdays it will stay a SM for my own riding pleasures.
Since there not much parts for this bike most will be custom or universal. If parts are not available for this bike I will make them or I will modify other parts.
So here i the list of the modifications Im about to do, the list will be update with more or less, whatever comes up in my mind.
- Change exhaust to give more broaaaarp (sound)
-- If got an great set of pipes from Motad.uk with link pipes. Good fit and great sound
- New 17" wheels for SM conversion
-- Need new hubs
-- Need to coat them in black
-- Need to spoke the rims to the original hubs
- Dynojet stage 2 tuning (carb tuning, k&n filter and adjustments)
- New mudgaurd
- Stainless steel brake lines
- New handle bar
- Digital tachometer
- Change rear spring
- 320mm break disc for new wheels
- New handle bar gaurd with led blinkers
As I said before, this list will be update from time to time. If anyone wants me to put the prices of the mods next to it just let me know.
